You have rights

 You are entitled to free medical care
  • You can go to the nearest hospital's Emergency Department.
  • You can claim CMU (Universal Medical Cover) or AME (State Medical Assistance) health coverage by contacting a Health prevention organisation.
You are entitled to protection
  • If you experience or are threatened with violence, you can file a complaint with the nearest police station. The police officers will discuss and record your complaint, whether or not you have the right to be in France. You can call 17 Police emergencies.
You are entitled to emergency housing              
  • You can call 115 Emergency housing (SAMU Social).
  • You can contact a specialised Housing assistance organisation.
You are entitled to practical support
  • If you have joined an “exit program including social and professional reintegration” (see below) set up by French law No. 2016/444, you can get a financial assistance for social and professional reintegration (AFIS). To find out more, contact a specialised professional reintegration support organisation.
  • People over 25 who live in France can claim RSA (active solidarity income) by contacting a specialised professional reintegration support organisation or by applying on the website www.caf.fr.
You are entitled to a residence permit
  • European Union (EU) citizens can remain in France without a residence permit.
  • If you are from a non-EU country, and you have joined an “exit program including social and professional reintegration” (see below) set up by French Law No. 2016/444, you can get a temporary residence permit (APS). You are entitled to free legal aid
  • Subject to conditions, you are entitled to legal aid. You can contact a specialised Legal aid organisation or apply for legal aid yourself on the website www.service-public.fr.
You are entitled to free psychological support
  • You can contact a specialised Psychological support organisation.
You are entitled to professional reintegration support
  • People with a residence permit can register with the "Pôle Emploi" (Job Centre). Registering provides access to training and job offers.
  • If you have joined an “exit program including social and professional reintegration” (see below) set up by French Law No. 2016/444, you can get one-on-one support for professional reintegration. To find out more, contact a specialised professional reintegration support organisation.

Exit program including social and professional reintegration

The program, which was created by Act 2016/444, is available to any adult victim of prostitution, pandering or sex trafficking who wants to begin a new life.

Joining the program gives you access to : 

  • tailored social and professional support for 6 months (renewable up to a maximum of 24 months)
  • a temporary residence permit for 6 months (renewable up to a maximum of 24 months)
  • an allowance for social and professional reintegration (AFIS)
